The Days Of

Wine
and
 Roses

A CUP OF WINE AND YOU

In far off land, 'cross oceans blue
a vintner tends his vines
And helps to grow with hands so true
the fruit to make his wines
His hair now white from many years
developing his craft
Still he yet sees, through misty tears
the nights they danced and laughed
It was for she these fields became
the symbol that he cared
And though she's gone, it's still the same
it honors what they shared
His tending done, he stops to rest
and watched the end of day
The wine is sweet, it is his best
it's then you hear him say
"My love so true, if you can hear
I miss you oh so much"
"Your body's gone and yet my dear
I still can feel your touch"
"I feel your love, it's in the fields
it makes it all complete"
"And on the vines, the fruit it yields
does make the wine taste sweet"
He shed a tear, then dropped his hand
and left to join his wife
Their love's now shared, throughout the land
as they renew their life
Two glasses poured, one yours, one mine
what was and is shall be
And as we sip the cool clear wine
may your thoughts be of me.
